A note from Jim and Alison...
And here we are again, just about to begin our 2026 season. The bookings are beginning to stack up and it looks as though it will be another busy year for us.
With fewer guest houses now in the town, it's important (regular guests) to get your reservations in to avoid disappointment. We hate when we can't accommodate you but fewer guest houses means that we're picking up new guests all the time.
Dare I say it's beginning to feel a little more spring like - I notice the birds are taking an interest in nesting sites and there's that lovely twitter and hum around as everything begins to gain colour and wake up. I do so love spring.
We have some wonderful events in the town planned for the summer months and why not take a look at what's on in Scarborough open air theatre, there are some fabulous acts due to visit. From memory, we have James Taylor, Billy Ocean, Anastasia, Madness and David Gray and many more that I don't recall. Bridlington and Scarborough Spa theatres also have a fine line up, if you're looking for a good evening out of music, dance or comedy.
Filey hosts regular food and music festivals, as well as live music in its bars. The Imperial, Fadó & Tide and the Station are usually rocking over the weekends. Quiz nights too in the Belle Vue, the Star and Bonhommes. We mustn't forget the live music in the bandstand in Crescent Gardens in summer months. Get out the deck chairs and picnic hamper and enjoy the atmosphere. Add to that weekend events such as the kite festival, literature festival, and steam punk, Filey really has it all. With Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough only a short drive there is just so much to more to enjoy. You could even take a steam train into the lovely Yorkshire 'Heartbeat' countryside, and the beautiful towns of Beverley and York are not too far away if you're visiting from afar.
For eating out, remember that Filey is a small town and while we have lots of choice, it does pay to book in advance to avoid disappointment. We have a range of restaurants and cafes, all very welcoming and serving great food and beverages. Very sadly, the Buccaneer is no longer in operation and will be badly missed by many.
Lastly, a big thank you to our super guests, who never fail to keep us entertained and energised, thank you for your repeated custom and amazing reviews. It's lovely to share our beautiful home with you. For all of us life brings changes, some welcome, others not so much and it's lovely to have friendship and those warm greetings when we meet up again. If we haven't seen you in a while, we hope you are keeping well and look forward to welcoming you back soon.
